Safety feature of the knife allows the user to start cutting and then remove their thumb off the blade slide; the force of the cut will keep the blade out to finish the cut however the instant the knife loses contact with the cutting surface the blade will self-retract. Second safety mechanism is activated once the cut is started.. If the user keeps their thumb on the blade slide; a guard will come out and engulf the blade to shield the user from getting cut.
